|7 string Bass Viol made by Jovita Mancewicz in 2015, after Nicolas Bertrand 1720. Two parts spruce front and two parts flamed maple back. Flamed maple sides and neck. Fingerboard and tailpiece covered with ebony veneer. String length: 72 cm. Sound box length : 70,5 cm. Total length: 124,5 cm. The sound is homogeneous, warm and deep. The instrument is in excellent condition and comes with a hard case. The viol is available to see and try in Warsaw (Poland). More photos on demand. For sale, or for loan to a prospective buyer: seven string bass viol (in Kingham case) made by Sarah Peck, finals years student at West Dean College in 2007, supervised by Roger Rose. Also for sale long bass viol snakewood bow, with mammoth tusk frog and button, made by Roger Rose in 2008. All in lovely condition and very carefully looked-after but I am looking for a quick sale as I am 'downsizing' to the treble viol. |Large consort bass (6 strings) made in the 19th century in Bohemia(?) after Nicolas Bertrand. It has a nice carved man's head, ebony fingerboard and tailpiece. Marvellous deep and warm sound when tuned in A. String length 725 mm, body length 775 mm, instrument length 1370 mm. It was restored by Claire Ryder (Paris) in 2006. A soft bag comes with (BAM).
